About Us

Historic Background

The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Simaria was established as part of a broader national mission to strengthen the foundation of school education and enhance the quality of teacher training in India. The idea of DIETs was conceptualized by the National Policy on Education (NPE), 1986, which emphasized the need for decentralized and district-level institutions to support elementary education through academic and resource support.

Establishment and Vision

DIET Simaria was founded with the goal of fulfilling the educational needs of the Chatra district in the state of Jharkhand. Simaria, a block known for its rich cultural heritage and scenic beauty, was chosen as the site due to its strategic location and accessibility to rural communities. The institute aims to improve the quality of pre-service and in-service training for elementary school teachers and to act as a nodal resource centre for the district.

Growth and Development

Since its inception, DIET Simaria has played a vital role in :

Training D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education) students.

Conducting in-service training programs for teachers from government and government-aided schools.

Organizing workshops, seminars, and research activities to improve teaching methodologies.

Providing academic support to schools through teaching aids, innovative practices, and field studies.

Over the years, the institution has expanded its infrastructure and academic activities, becoming a cornerstone for teacher education in the region. With an emphasis on child-centered and activity-based learning, DIET Simaria aligns with the goals of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Right to Education Act (2009), and NEP 2020.

Current Role

Today, DIET Simaria continues to serve as a vital link between policy makers and the grassroots level of the education system. It supports teachers in enhancing their professional competencies and contributes to curriculum development, educational planning, and monitoring at the district level.
